Sure glad we moved out of San Antonio.

So this morning we went to late mass and how could you not fill good after that kind of start to the day but then we headed to Dirty S.A. to get our flu shots and the wife was going to grocery shop while there ( she only goes once every 3 weeks) but it was crazy busy so we decide to hop back into the car and head 30min south the Lytle H-E-B, where she usually shop but they would not give my son the flu shot that's why we head to the city in the first place. I think we saved that much time easy since the store was so busy you good not even walk up the aisle, sure wish I would of taking a pic. It was a strong reminder on why we moved from S.A. and why we even hate to go back.

While the wife shopped I chugged down a cup of coffee at the local Mcdonalds and borrowed the use of their internet so I could start work on my short presentation that I have to give at webdesign meetup group. Nothing fancy just 5 Min of talking about a new product from Adobe called Edge Code CC.
here is a video that adobe made, it will perfect for showcasing the product.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Xa6r8outW0. We then returned to the house where I began working on the presentation until I noticed that my laptop web cam had been turned on and not by me. So I took measures to stop that from ever happen again. I disabled the camera in the device manager and then did the more secure method of using tape and posted not. I also have a full sweep running as I type but I am still not sure how the intrusion happened guessing the free internet thing bit me in the butt.

Almost forgot we got three more sweet pastured raised eggs today I sure can't wait to try them. We also got 1/4" of rain while in the city, we sure needed that rain now if we could get about 12" over next month would start to make a dent into whats needed around here..

Easter in September

So I thought I would add to this post due to the fact that I ran into some technical difficulties while trying to post yesterday. The picture and the title were easily added from an app. on my Samsung s4  but for some reason it would not allow text. So moving forward we found a total of 10 whole eggs plus 2 broken. I decided that since I was unsure about there age I would forgo this batch and yes I am aware of the old put them in the cup of water trick and if they sink then they are for sure fresh at least that's what I have read and been told by others. So after this great find we now know that we must do at least one egg hunt a day, which makes O.P. (more on who that is later) excited since he gets to go look a bunch.

So it seems only fitting to meet the newly productive member's of our family or at least four out five.We started with six but one died last week and then I found another unnamed family member eating her but I am relative sure she died of natural causes as she did not look good the day before.

This breed of chickens is called sex-links and they are great egg layer but would not make will for meat bird. Here is a great resource about chickens if you are new to the game like me.                   /http://www.backyardchickens.com/

After Easter we headed out for our ritual Saturday morning taco's at Tinka-A-Tako. Then headed over to NB (New Braunfels) to check out my cousins new house, which they are suppose to close on Wednesday but I don't see that happening and that are at there whit's end with the builder. Not looking good at all and it's already 2 months past due.

Home Sweet Home

I am starting this Blog as an online diary mainly for myself, if it happens to be interesting to others then good. We have five not so fertile acres just outside of Castroville, Texas and like many others in this back to the land movement we too are looking to recapture what has been lost by so many others, that connecting to land and our food.

I plan to spend the next first few post introducing you to my place, Family and animals. I can not promise a daily post or the what direction that the blog will take but it will be a recount of my doings. I recently got interested in the idea of blogging after reading much of John Wells blog The Field Lab http://thefieldlab.blogspot.com/. I have a great interest to what he is doing but don't think I have the fortitude to carry through to his level.

So today I will post a pic of our place from the road.
