Home Sweet Home

I am starting this Blog as an online diary mainly for myself, if it happens to be interesting to others then good. We have five not so fertile acres just outside of Castroville, Texas and like many others in this back to the land movement we too are looking to recapture what has been lost by so many others, that connecting to land and our food.

I plan to spend the next first few post introducing you to my place, Family and animals. I can not promise a daily post or the what direction that the blog will take but it will be a recount of my doings. I recently got interested in the idea of blogging after reading much of John Wells blog The Field Lab http://thefieldlab.blogspot.com/. I have a great interest to what he is doing but don't think I have the fortitude to carry through to his level.

So today I will post a pic of our place from the road.

Home Sweet Home!

  2. Frank,
My dream is to buy a small home in the country and grow our own food , too! We will hopefully do this when Isabelle graduates from high school in 2017-2018. Sort of our retirement phase. I will need your help to guide me towards buying the right goats, sheep, etc.
The Texas heat is bothering us more that we are getting older, so we are considering a cooler climate. Also, as you mentioned...we will need good soil for my vegetable garden.
    Your home looks so nice!!
